Pygmy goat genetics were brought into Australia around 2013 thanks to the hard work and tenacity of Paul Hamilton from Semtech Breeding Services. Australian Miniature goats were artificially inseminated and over the years the pygmy percentage has been bred up by continually breeding higher percentages.
Now we have 100 % pygmies in Australia.
Some other breeders have recently imported semen from the U.S.A and are breeding there own line of pygmieS.
We are at a very exciting time in Australia with quality pygmies being bred all across Australia but at this point in time there are A limited amount of pygmies above 90% but that will all change over the next few years.
Australia also has it's very own National Pygmy goat Association which is affiliated with the National Pygmy goat Association of America. Anyone wanting to become a registered breeder should contact either of the associations mentioned above...NPGAA or AABMGS
